What did Auntie Carol do for TEN days in Indiana?
1. Delighted in telling Sarah and Rachel they have tickets to see Clay Aiken in concert WITH Auntie Carol when she returns in August.
2. Was inspired by Rick Whitaker's performance of "Proud To Be An American" at boat church for the Nth year in a row.
3. Was mesmerized and intoxicated by Clay Aiken's performance of "Proud To Be An American" at the White House on the Fourth of July.
4. Prepared for the next Clay Aiken concert in Wisconsin --- which she attended on the way home from Indiana.
5. Walked the Forest Glen 5K (almost) every morning --- and set PRs each day.
6. Held an intensive multi-day training seminar on aesthetic applications . . .
i.e. make-up and hair-dos.
7. Oh. and she did a little shopping . . .
8. Shopping
9. SHOPPING
10. AND SOME MORE SHOPPING!!!!
Did you get the impression that Auntie Carol is very "focused"?
Remember, this the beloved aunt who taught my girls to "Shop 'til you drop" and how to say "Charge it!" when they were just toddlers.
On my day off, however, I did provide them with a break in their grueling routine and taught them how to marble. Even Gramma Bev couldn't resist!
The other perhaps unfamiliar face in the picture is our niece Shannon who surprised us with a visit from Florida. (She just LOVES to have her picture taken.) She went back to Minnesota with Carol and Mark --- and got to see Clay on the way --- but we still don't know if she was inaugurated into the Aiken Hearts fan club . . .

And one of the culminating highlights of the week was . . . BINGO!
Here you can see how all the hard work shopping and primping paid off.

Whatever you do...DON'T tell Sarah her hair is straight out of the 80's!
Way cool bunch! Is that a marbelized bathing suit?
Waiting for a new update - My sole source of excitment in my life is waking up each morning, running to the computer and checking to see if Erin has posted something new at www.jungbauer.org - As you can imagine I have been quite dissapointed lately. Well heading to the library - Finals next week.
And, no matter how much time I spend in Indiana, it's never enough to do everything I want to do! I didn't even get to the Bjorkholder this summer.
The Clay concert in Wisconsin was awesome! And as far as Shannon goes, she has fallen hook, line and sinker for Clay! She went back to Florida with all sorts of pictures and copies of articles on Clay. I think her most memorable line of the week is, "He's kind of nerdy looking, but I'd go out on a date with him!" Never underestimate the power of influence of Annie Carol!!!!!
BINGO AT THE CLUB ROCKS!
Hi Eric!
Hey You!
Boy Eric - you really are sitting at your computer waiting for something new to happen on this page!
Well, when you are in the library 12 hours a day - you tend to surf the internet in between study breaks and check your e-mail about 400 times.
Hmmmmm. . . doesn't sound like a heck of a lot of studing is getting done! Good luck on your finals! And by the way, do you like Clay Aiken??? :)
A lot of work is getting done. Uhm, no I don't like Clay Aiken, but I am sure the "tennie-boppers" are wild about him.
I am so glad to FINALLY get the update on Clay! I am TRULY impressed that you were able to convert Shannon into a Clay fan. The true test of Annie Carol's magical powers will be when she takes Sarah to see Clay later this month...
All y'all know you are from Indiana (or Minnesota) when you think that "Clay" is the next hottest thing...Or better yet, you know you are from the south when you say, "Y'all" --> Yes but saying, "y'all" is an accepted thing 'round here. Is being an American Idol Groupie accepted? MMM....That's a tough one.
Well Eric, I hate to tell you this, but Clay is not the next hottest thing. . . he is THE HOTTEST thing out there. Get with it, man! Numerous articles have been published comparing him to THE KING. (That's Elvis, in case you're too young to know that!)
Erin, it will be easier to Clayvert Sarah than Shannon. She never even watched American Idol. At least Sarah has seen the show! The concert is the most fun concert I have ever been to. I'm so glad I'm going again. . . and again. Once is not enough for this concert and this Clay fan!!!!!
Well, maybe I am just jealous or something...ha- who knows? Anyways - yeah it is hard to get off on the wrong track when you have traveled so many times between New Mexico and Georgia with your grandfather listening to Limbaugh when he was just getting started...
