"I recently finished my freshman year in the nursing program at Cedarville University in Ohio. It was filled with many challenges and late nights, but most of all it was filled with God's presence and direction. I never thought I would end up at a college in the middle of a corn field, but I love it there. The academic, spiritual and social atmosphere at Cedarville has helped me become more independent but also more sensitive. Many college students change their major several times, but I feel confident and excited about the path I have chosen in nursing.
About a month ago, God presented me with another exciting opportunity: a five week medical mission trip to Paraguay. With a team of five other students, I will be completely immersed in Paraguay's culture by living with a local family and working in a mobile medical clinic. I will be working through Serving In Mission (SIM) with a specific ministry called Training in Medical Evangelism (TIME) from May 30th through July 5th."
We said good-bye on Sunday evening and finally heard that she arrived safely over 36 hours (and a few butterflies) later. Sarah's first flight out of Fort Wayne was cancelled due to storms, so Steve drove her to Chicago and thankfully helped her through all the red tape to get her on her way. She arrived in Sao Paulo, Brazil 12 hours later (and that was a direct flight) but then had an 11 hour lay-over before another flight to Asuncion, Paraguay. She connected with the rest of her team in the Sao Paulo airport: "Meeting up with the team went smoothly and I was sooo happy to finally see them. We all connected right away. It was like meeting up with old friends." After almost 48 hours of travel, she finally got to sleep in a real bed again at 2 am today.
We'll worry about the lost luggage tomorrow......
